Film4: PREMIERE Friday 15 May, 2.15am
Hired to find a young girl lost to human trafficking, mercenary Djimon Hounsou declares war on the mobs running Bangkok’s sex trade. Kevin Bacon is the Brit supplying the weaponry (don’t panic, his accent’s nowhere near as broad as the Ray Winstone impersonation affected by Mel Gibson in The Beaver). A brutal exploitation pic with loads of local colour (sleazy bars, sacred temples, etc), it’s strictly from the Steven Seagal school of sorting out serious problems. Ong-bak director Prachya Pinkaew piles the bodies high. But Hounsou’s evidently sincere – he produced this.
