Sky Movies Premiere: PREMIERE Friday 29 May, 1.45pm and 8pm
Manhattan attorney Cameron Diaz had no idea her ‘perfect’ new boyfriend Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was married. She’s furious. Then befuddled when his wife Leslie Mann befriends her. The cheat’s latest sideline, model Kate Upton, would like to join the gals’ payback club in a kind of Sisterhood of the Traveller’s Cheques. And, boy, is it pants. Nick Cassavetes previously directed Diaz in the grotesque ‘true-life’ soap My Sister’s Keeper and this is an equally bizarre misjudgment, a bed-and-boardroom farce that can’t keep out of the toilet. Mann’s irksome character Kate is a whimpering flake, Upton is dumb and buxom, Diaz is Diaz, kind of scary. Everyone’s behaviour (men included) is so abnormal it would interest only zoologists or FBI profilers. For a supposed comedy, that’s not a good fit. The humour is either laxative-gag gross or plain lazy – when the buffed-up bffs first spy on Coster-Waldau, their musical accompaniment is Lalo Schifrin’s original Mission: Impossible theme. All of it, played through to the last note.
