Homer and Marge Simpson are getting legally separated.
It’s been announced that, in the first episode of the 27th Simpsons series, Homer will fall in love with a pharmacist played by Lena Dunham, and that’ll be the end of their marriage.
After years of Marge enduring Homer’s drunkenness, Homer’s indiscretions and Homer’s dream sequences, it’s a medical issue that finally drives them apart.
As Simpsons executive producer Al Jean told Variety, “In the premiere, it’s discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it’s an incredible strain on the marriage.
And it doesn’t look like they are going to reconcile anytime soon as Homer turns his attention to Lena Dunham!

“Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who’s voiced by Lena Dunham. We’ll have cameos from the other women from Girls.”
Al also admitted Sideshow Bob is going to “do something he’s wanted to do for 25 years”.
“So Bob will finally somehow actually execute Bart – and then won’t know what to do with himself after his life’s mission has been accomplished.”
But fear not, Bart will appear in the 27th series. The famous cartoon is to feature a special episode based on movie Boyhood.
Al explained: “We have an episode based on the film Boyhood. It’s a flashback/flashforward about Bart. We go to various points in his life and his life to come which I think came out really well.”
And if all that isn’t enough, he also confirmed Homer’s Spider Pig from The Simpsons Movie will be making an appearance in the upcoming series.
