(2012) ★★

Channel 4: PREMIERE Friday 3 July, 11.40pm

Richard Coyle literally wasted as wares-sampling south London drug dealer in debt to Serbian no-good-niks and spiralling out of control in an utterly redundant remake of Nikolas Winding Refn’s cult mid-90s Copenhagen debut. The original Pusher had attention grabbing performances by rising stars Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale Bond villain) and Kim Bodnia (burly detective in The Bridge). Rather unwisely, Refn belatedly turned this ‘saga’ into a trilogy, part 2 following in 2004, although Mikkelson and Bodnia were both long departed by the time part 3 (2006) fell into place.
