Dr Seuss’ the Lorax

Danny DeVito is the Lorax, a furry environmentalist of indeterminate specie. He speaks for the trees, if you please. The Despicable Me team turned plain deplorable with a heavy message cartoon that comes over like a candy-coloured carbon footprint. The songs by John Powell and Cinco Paul are nothing to shout about either. We’re not talking Neil Young here (“Look at Mother Nature on the run, in the 1970s…”) and The Simpsons, too, long ago treated this subject with more wit and relevance. Not to mention brevity. Much like Dr Seuss’ original book, in fact, which barely made a scant 45 pages with big illustrations.
