A car thief whose dramatic arrest after a high-speed police chase was filmed by Storage Hunters star Jesse McClure has been jailed.

Reality TV personality Mr McClure was on his way to a charity event in Burnley, Lancashire, when he saw Mark Devlin, 39, being detained by police after speeding through a residential area in a stolen Vauxhall Zafira at almost twice the 30mph limit.

Grabbing his phone, Mr theft  filmed officers box in Devlin – who then crashed into a police van and an unmarked police car – before hauling both the car thief and his 42-year old passenger Stephen Starkie away.

Mr McClure then uploaded the 92-second clip to YouTube, telling fans he got to see the ‘mean streets of Burnley’. The clip was viewed more than one million times.

Yesterday, at Burnley Crown Court, Devlin, from Burnley, who has 115 previous offences on his record, admitted aggravated vehicle taking and was jailed for one year. He was also
Starkie, of Burnley, pleaded guilty to allowing himself to be carried in a vehicle taken without consent and was given a four week curfew by the bench, between 7pm and 7am, seven days a week. He was ordered to pay £85 costs, a £60 victim surcharge and a criminal court charge of £150.
