It’s the first of Sky Sports’ new Friday Night Football, with Aston Villa hosting Manchester united in a tasty encounter at Villa Park. Monday Night Football is something of a treat — especially at the start of the working week — so let’s hope FNF has a similar impact when we are winding down into weekend mode.

Sky Sports 1, 6.00pm (KO 7.45), Friday 14th August

Both teams managed to secure a victory in their first game of the season, with United defeating Spurs 1-0 at Old Trafford and Villa seeing off newly-promoted Bournemouth by the same margin. Villa manager Tim Sherwood will be hoping that summer recruit Rudy Gestede can continue his goalscoring form, after he came off the bench to grab the winner against the Cherries.

Meanwhile, United will want to step things up a gear, after a steady but unspectacular performance against Spurs. Can new signings Memphis Depay and Matteo Darmian impress once again? And will Bastian Schweinsteiger earn his first start in English football? All will be revealed come Friday evening. It’s set to be a cracker!
