Channel 5: PREMIERE Sunday 4 October, 9pm
Deep in debt, Adam Sandler worms his way back into the life of estranged son Andy Samberg. Going from Big Daddy to this bad boy neatly sums up Sandler’s comedy career trajectory. He used to be big. Now he’s just bad. He made Grown Ups. And he’s got the Razzies to prove it.
“That came out weird,” says the foot-in-mouth Samberg, more than once. Most of it does. Believe me, no blow is too low. Obsessed by geriatric sex, it’s actually less amusing than Grandma’s Boy, a 2006 Happy Madison production starring Sandler’s old pal Allen Covert. Director Sean Anders wrote She’s Out of My League and made Sex Drive.
His new film is the Will Ferrell comedy Daddy’s Home. But for those who can’t get enough of Adam Sandler, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry follows at 11.20pm. Anyone with affection for The Wedding Singer should give it a miss.
