Sky Movies Premiere: PREMIERE Saturday 31 October, 12.15am
Rookie cop Pollyanna McIntosh witnesses a road traffic accident on her new beat in a small coastal town but can’t see the victim. He’s Liam Cunningham, and he presents himself soon enough at the cop shop, bloody and unresponsive. They call him Six, the number of the cell he’s placed in.
And McIntosh, the wild woman from Lucky McKee’s The Woman, realises she can’t trust anyway inside the station, banged up or not. From pounding synth score to chaotic siege themes, director Brian O’Malley’s blood-splattered feature debut is a doff of the cap to genre master John Carpenter.
The grave-faced Cunningham’s always worth watching but the plot’s as transparent as the punning title. Prince of Darkness inside Precinct 13? Wishful thinking. There’s a Grabbers goofiness to this gore show.
