The Invisible

BBC1: Wednesday 18 November, 12.05am

Justin Chatwin is beaten in the woods and dumped down a storm drain by the school’s bad girl, Margarita Levieva. Still, she has it rough at home. Soulful Seattle teenagers… So mistreated. So misunderstood. So unfair! Justin wanders the school grounds like the ghost of Forrest Gump, lost and confused. Like the writers, I’m guessing.

This listless, ludicrous (but oh-so soulful) supernatural snooze sounds like a bad idea for an American TV show. It’s actually a remake of a 2002 Swedish hit. With a soundtrack making liberal use of ‘sensitive’ songs by Snow Patrol, Mellowdrome, Oceansize, Syntax, A Perfect Circle and Death Cab for Cutie, this is frankly painful. And the poems are rubbish, too. The Invisible? Don’t see it.
