The Curse of Frankenstein
BBC Four, 11.00pm
The first of Hammer’s iconic Frankenstein franchise is also the production company’s first ever colour horror picture. It was the huge success of this timelessly frightening picture that spawned countless spiritual successors, with the most notable being 1958’s Dracula and The Mummy the following year. Directed by Terence Fisher, it stars Christopher Lee in a career-changing performance as the monster, and is a must-watch for any fan of classic horror. Peter Cushing is also typically brilliant. A perfect way to spend a Thursday night, wouldn’t you think?
