2015 was quite a year for film, with many memorable classics being released. However, there can only be one winner and that film has turned out to be none other than George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road. The post-apocalyptic action epic has dominated Top 10 lists, won unanimous praise and was even named the Greatest Film of 2015 by the National Board of Review.

Now, it has the distinction of being Rotten Tomatoes’ best-reviewed film of the year, alongside Oscar-tipped drama Room, both towering above the rest of the critical aggregator site.

Fury Road scored 97% “fresh,” a score that also saw it being the best-reviewed sci-film of the year. Room, a harrowing drama about a mother and son living in extreme circumstances, was named the best film on limited release with 99%. While Pixar’s Inside Out and Brooklyn, starring Saoirse Ronan, both scored 98% – higher than Mad Max – they had less reviews posted and were therefore placed lower, according to the site’s measurements.

It Follows (with a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes) got best horror movie, while Brooklyn was named the site’s best drama and Amy (96%) got best documentary.Carol (94%) was named best-reviewed romance, while Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation (93%) was the site’s best-reviewed action movie.
