Corporate recruitment consultant Aksel Hennie moonlights as an art thief to finance a luxury lifestyle he can’t afford with a glamorous wife (Synnøve Macody Lund) he doesn’t trust. Crime and punishment is dished out with great deliberation in a sparky Norwegian thriller.
Hennie is perfectly cast as the outwardly cocky, inwardly loathing corporate hotshot, with lank blond hair and eyes that, like Christopher Walken’s, seem on the verge of tears. He suffers mightily for his sins. But his cat-and-mouse encounters with smiling psycho Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (outwardly handsome, inwardly evil) are neatly resolved in a very tidy, cruelly comic caper that’s as twisted as the roads running around mountain fjords.
