The one burning question on the minds of Game of Thrones fans over the past year has been; is Jon Snow really dead?

In the season five finale, Snow was repeatedly stabbed and left for dead by the Night’s Watch but that hasn’t been the full story.

In the intermitting months, numerous outlets have spotted actor Kit Harington on the Thrones season 6 set, with pictures emerging of him geared up in armour.

Now, in what is a surprising and fairly significant development, Harington has finally revealed he will be returning in season 6, but with a massive twist.

It looks like he will be back, yes, but he won’t be alive.

Speaking to Time Out in the run up to his role in the West End’s Doctor Faustus, he admitted he has filmed scenes for the upcoming season.

“I filmed some scenes of me being dead – [jokily] it’s some of my best work,” he said. When questioned further about what happens in the series, he answered: “I know how long I’m a corpse for, but I can’t tell you that!”

Is this cryptic trolling from Harington? It may well be. There’s a chance Snow could be brought back as a White Walker, while the more popular theory is that he will be revived by Melisandre. Whatever way you look at it, Jon Snow will be in Game of Thrones season 6, but definitely not as the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch and maybe not even as Snow – it’s all up in the air at this point.

We’ll finally get confirmation when Game of Thrones returns to our screens on April 24. However, expect the show-runners not to address the Jon Snow-sized elephant in the room in the first scene of the first episode…
