Now that Game of Thrones season 6 has kicked off it’s all getting very exciting indeed. We already know that at this point, the fantasy TV series and the books are going in very different directions as the show turns a corner and moves towards its conclusion. But who will be on the Iron Throne at the end?!

Bare with us. We’re going to try and piece together ten things that need to happen this season on Game of Thrones. Also, we’re warning you now – spoilers may lie ahead. If you haven’t watched the season 6 premiere, turn back now! Here we go, with 10 things that STILL need to happen in Game of Thrones season 6!

1) Game of Thrones season 6 ultimate ambition: a definitive Jon Snow resolution

Alive or dead?! We still haven’t got a clue! Last time we saw him he was looking pretty worse for wear – to say the least. One thing that seems certain though is that Ser Davos isn’t going to surrender without a fight. Will Melisandre resurrect him? Or will he transform into his trusted Dire wolf Ghost? At this point Jon’s fate is still very much up in the air. We definitely think he’ll return in some way or another though. There are far too many unanswered questions about his parentage that need to be answered. However, with Tower of Joy flashbacks in the offing, we’re guessing the showrunners are set to answer the mother (pun not intended) of all Game of Thrones theories!

2) Drogon coming to Dany’s rescue

Game of Thrones season 6

Just when we thought things couldn’t get any worse for poor Dany…

We got a hint of her badass nature in the season 6 premiere when she gave the Khal a piece of her mind after being threatened with rape. Let’s just say her plan backfired and she wasn’t expecting to be told that she now has to live out the rest of her days in Vaes Dothrak. Looks like Drogo failed to mention that little gem of knowledge when they tied the knot. Whoops.

Here’s hoping that Drogon will somehow shake off his teenage temper tantrum and come to his mother’s aid when she needs him most.  Or else she’ll be relying on Jorah the Explorer and Daario Naharis to track her down. Either way, we’re holding out hope that there’ll be fireworks in Essos this season!

3) The Lannisters v the High Sparrow

Game of Thrones season 6

We’re said this for a while now, but after everything that Cersei has been through in the last season we’re willing to bet that she’s going to go to war to take back King’s Landing from the High Sparrow. Not to mention Jamie, who is more than ready to seek revenge on behalf of his sister/lover.

The High Sparrow and his comrades have significant control over King’s Landing these days so it will take an awful lot of power to overcome them.

It looks like Cersei and Jamie may well be making their own list of people that they want dead. All we know is that one way or another there will be blood – and lots of it.

4) Tyrion and the Dragons

Game of Thrones season 6

Poor Tyrion always seems to draw the short straw doesn’t he and it looks no different in Game of Thrones season 6.

So far, he’s made it to Daenerys in Meereen, only to watch her almost be assassinated at the hands of the Sons of the Harpy before being flown to safety by Drogon.

Not know where she is or how to speak the language, Tyrion finds himself in a rather precarious position.

Judging from the trailer it looks like he’s going to have to get to grips with Dany’s other dragon friends. Will Tyrion be able to do a better job than Dany at trying to keep these feisty beasts under control? Only time will tell.

5) Ser Davos and Brienne

Game of Thrones season 6

From the promo shots we can see that Davos seems to be riding with what looks like a Stark flag in the background. The plot thickens!

Whilst this could have something to do with Jon Snow, we reckon it’s more likely that Ser Davos will be joining forces with Brienne who has just saved Sansa to lead the charge back to Winterfell with what is left of the Baratheon army.

6) Bran and Hodor

Game of Thrones season 6

We’ve got a good feeling about Bran and Hodor this season. We already know that Bran will feature in the season but not to what extent. Also, we’re still rather eager to find out where the cave actually leads to!

The trailer would have us believe that Bran can walk again, however, we’re taking this with a pinch of salt to be honest. Something tells us that there’s much more to this scene than we think. Wouldn’t it be epic if Bran could see into the mind of the White Walker king?

7) Ayra the blind assassin

Game of Thrones season 6

We get the feeling that Ayra is going to go all Daredevil on us.

There’s only so many beatings that you can take, so one way or another Arya will learn to fight back using her other senses.

We reckon Arya will have a moment of realisation this season, after all she’s more interested in becoming an assassin because she’s Ayra Stark, not to please Jaqen H’ghar and the Faceless god. Also, Needle is still hiding away somewhere waiting for her to come back.

8) The Wall

Game of Thrones season 6

The White Walkers are becoming increasingly powerful, that’s for certain.

We’re convinced that by the end of season 6 the North will be on the verge of a massive battle with the White Walkers and the wall could well be on it’s way down. If that happens it’s going to be absolute chaos. Although we hope that they’ll take Ser Alliser Thorne with them, that is if Ghost doesn’t get to him first!

It would also be pretty damn cool to get some sort of revelation over how they came to be!

9) The Boltons

Game of Thrones season 6

It’s about time this nasty family get what’s coming to them. By the end of season 6 we think that Ramsay and Roose will finally get their comeuppance but by what means we’re not sure. At this rate they could well murder each other and to be honest, we really wouldn’t be surprised!

10) The return of familiar faces…

Thrones

We’re sincerely hoping that there’s some light at the end of the tunnel for some of the characters who have evidently disappear off the face of Westeros.

Ian McShane let it slip that his role in this season is to “bring somebody back that you think you’re never going to see again.”

Lady Stoneheart is a major character in the books but we’re not exactly hopefully that she’ll make an appearance in the TV series. We reckon if anyone is going to come back it’ll be the Hound.
