We didn’t know much about Negan in The Walking Dead until he rocked up in the Season 6 finale (even if it did end on a cliffhanger). However, according to the comic books that the show is based on he’s a pretty popular guy. Who knew?! Although we have to admit that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a pretty epic casting choice!
Until now, fans knew very little about his past but that’s all about to change. A new prequel comic has just landed which reveals the truth about Negan’s backstory, you know before he turned to violence and started out on his rampage with Lucille his faithful baseball bat. What would he do without her?

There has been great speculation over Negan’s line of work with even a used car salesman being thrown into the mix. However, we were all shocked when it was revealed that he was actually a school teacher (potty mouth and all) and ping-pong coach. Judging by the comic, it’s safe to say his love of foul language didn’t just start with the beginning of the end of the world…
The new comic entitled Here’s Negan is 48 pages in length but it is only being released in four page segments. Dammit! That means if you want to make it to the end of the comic it’ll take you a full year! Thankfully, we know that the story gets off to a pretty quick start.
So far, we’ve only seen this page but ComicBook.com have a bit of an inside scoop that we’re able to share with you.
The first four pages show Negan in his teaching position attempting to help pupils achieve perfection in their ping-pong skills. Here we see Negan’s character shine through as his temper seems to get the better of him when he belittles one of the boys.
Another lady in his life…
Also, we’re introduced to a rather special lady in Negan’s life (and it’s not Lucille!) However, it’s only a matter of time before the mood of the comic takes a dark twist as his girlfriend/partner/wife/friend/whoever she is suffers a seizure. Will we get to see a softer side to him through the comic?

The first four pages are now available in the Image+ preview magazine. Unfortunately, that’s all we’ll get until May when the next four pages are released!
The Walking Dead returns to screens this Autumn, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on the premiere date when it is officially announced.
