Mark Ruffalo has teased a different dynamic for Bruce Banner and his mean, green alter-ego in Thor: Ragnarok.
The Hulk will feature prominently in Thor’s third standalone flick, which has been described – rather brilliantly – as an ‘intergalactic road movie’ and Ruffalo discussed the relationship between Banner and Hulk in the movie.
“I think the arc that he is ultimately making in his relationship with The Hulk and how that’s gonna resolve itself, that’s really where … nobody has gone to that place,” Ruffalo told Collider.
“He’s always been running from him or trying to deny it but they are coming for a collision course with each other and i think that could be pretty exciting if we can figure out a way, how to do it — multi-dimensionally.”
“Hulk versus Banner! Yeah, baby!” They then give each other a high-five. Ruffalo adds, “The only person in the world that The Hulk is scared of, or thing, is Banner.”
As we know from previous movies, the dynamic between Banner and The Hulk is absolutely crucial to keeping the green Avenger in check. It sounds as though The Hulk will be unleashed upon Asgard, and it could be pretty interesting to see how that pans out.
The cast was recently unveiled for Thor: Ragnarok and it has assembled one of the most impressive ensembles for a Marvel movie yet. Chris Hemsworth returns to the title role, while Tom Hiddleston will reprise his popular villainous turn as Loki. Joining them are Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Cate Blanchett as the mysterious villain Hela, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Karl Urban as Skurge.
Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi and will drop July 2017.
