It’s fair to say the female-led Ghostbusters reboot’s marketing campaign has had a bumpy road. The eagerly-anticipated first trailer turned out to be the most disliked film trailer in the history of YouTube, while the merchandising has attracted criticism for apparently being misogynistic.

However, in another attempt to win fans of the original over, Sony has released another spoilery TV spot, returning the iconic villain Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to the fray. Stay Puft joins Slimer in returning for the reboot.

The 30-second clip also features Rowan getting shot by Melissa McCarthy. Alongside McCarthy is Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon, as well as Chris Hemsworth, who really needs to score a hit outside of Marvel’s Thor.

Recently, director Paul Feig lashed out at the film’s many critics.

His immortal words were: “It’s just an uphill battle and I can’t believe we are having to deal with it. There were a bunch of people that were angry that there was a reboot.”

Addressing the controversy over Leslie Jones’s ‘street smart’ character, Feig said: “I feel bad that many have taken a bad look at Leslie Jones‘ character. We originally wrote it for Melissa, and then when we were putting it together, we figured Melissa had played a role like that before.
