There’s no shortage of potential power couples in Westeros that could rule the Seven Kingdoms in Game of Thrones. One of the most obvious – and creepy – is the incestuous power pairing of Jaime and Cersei Lannister, who are a High Sparrow away from sharing the throne one would feel (yeah, like Tommen is really going to stand in their way if it came to it).
However, a new relationship is burgeoning away from King’s Landing, giving Thrones one of its most unlikely power couples yet. No, unfortunately it’s Tormund and Brienne (although we do hold out feint hopes that will still happen).
A UK magazine seems to have leaked a little too much information about the upcoming ‘Battle of the Bastards’ episode, confirming that it won’t focus exclusively on the showdown between the armies of Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton for the future of Winterfell.
However, it looks as though Yara Greyjoy and Daenerys Targaryen will take a liking for each other in the upcoming instalment.
Huh, so it’s not a full Northern episode? pic.twitter.com/96hmG8arl5

As Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton do battle in the North, elsewhere in the Seven Kingdoms it’s the female characters who look most likely to rule Westeros as season six comes to a close. This week’s episode sees Yara Greyjoy and her brother Theon finally make it to Meereen where the Ironborn warrior finds an admirer in Daenerys. “That’s the beauty of the show,” says Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys. “As women, we accept our femininity and take strength from it.”
We can expect a Daenerys-Yara acquaintance in the forthcoming episode then and that poses an interesting question for the finale, what with Euron Greyjoy on the hunt for his niece. But two queens coming together? That really is a power couple. In fact, if things went their way, they could end up commanding the Unsullied and the Iron Fleet – and that’s quite an army to have under your power.
