Although Lex Luthor warned us about the threat of Darkseid in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Justice League will have to go through Steppenwolf in their first cinematic outing together.
Yes, as we reported a while back, Steppenwolf will be the main antagonist in Justice League, confirmed by executive producer Deborah Snyder during the press visit to the movie’s set.
Steppenwolf is Darkseid’s uncle and one of his most trusted lieutenants. He is known in the DC comics as an expert military strategist, so expect him to wage a brutal war on the heroes of the Justice League.
A deleted scene surfaced online after Batman v Superman was released in theatres, depicting Steppenwolf and the Mother Boxes. It make sense to hold back on Darkseid for a few films and create an almost Thanos-esque mystery around him. Darkseid is said to have a presence in the film, although it’s not confirmed if he will physically appear.
Synopsis: “Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”
“Directed by Zack Snyder, this marks the big screen debut of the Justice League, featuring an all-star lineup: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.”
Justice League is set for release November 17, 2017.
