The new Power Rangers movie just got a whole lot more interesting. Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston announced on Twitter on Tuesday night that he has been cast to play Zordon in the Power Rangers reboot. Zordon is the creator and mentor to the Power Rangers, known to most as a giant floating head. He’s also the adversary of the film’s main antagonist Rita Reuplsa, played by Elizabeth Banks.

Since all the Rangers themselves are being played by relatively unknown actors, the inclusion of Cranston adds some star power and dramatic gravitas to proceedings.

Synopsis: Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat.  Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The Power Rangers cast includes Becky G as Yellow Ranger Trini, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger Zack, Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger Jason, Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger Kimberly, and RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger Billy, who will do battle with Elizabeth Banks’ Rita Repulsa.
