Many DC Comics readers would like to unsee Superman’s mullet in the 1990s but, whether they like it or not, it remains part of the Man of Steel’s history. In the comics, Superman is killed by Doomsday, only to return with a fuller head of black locks.
Interestingly, the superhero died at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice too, but director Zack Snyder concluded the film with speckles of dirt levitating over Superman’s coffin, clearly implying that he will return in Justice League, which is obvious considering he is the beating heart of this superhero alliance.
The question is then; will Snyder aesthetically honour the source material and give Henry Cavill’s Superman a mullet? It seems like it’s definitely not out of the question.
“[His hair] should be perfect,” Snyder teased to Comic Book Resources during a recent Justice League set visit, when Cavill was kept hidden from sight. “A little longer, I guess! That’s what the myths are anyway.”
“I guess that’s part of the story. If he does appear, I think that that would be a big part of the story, right? There’s a process, clearly, that would have to go on.”
Justice League synopsis: “Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions. Take a look at a photo below from earlier this week, which shows that Henry Cavill may in fact be growing out his hair for Justice League.”
