New images of Jared Leto’s heavily-tattooed incarnation of the Joker in this summer’s Suicide Squad have dropped online mysteriously. There doesn’t appear to be a concrete source of the images, but they look legit. They supposedly come from the Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition.
So it’s this first image that is attracting both positive and negative comments from DC fans on the DC Cinematic Universe subreddit. The image is being criticised for its poor lighting, but other denunciations are aimed at Leto himself.
One commenter remarked, “All he’s missing is the line across his neck that says “CUT HERE,” while another said “Jared Leto still in character for Dallas Buyers Club.”
Most of the disapproval is centred on Leto’s tattoos, with a redditor saying “I still gotta say, the tattoos look stupid. I like Leto, but his design is way out there.”
Others are standing behind Leto’s look and are confident he will deliver a Joker performance to remember in David Ayer’s film.

Leto also spoke with Deadline recently to discuss his eagerly-anticipated turn as the Clown Prince, teasing what to expect from the film.
“You can anticipate a lot of chaos and a hell of a lot of fun. And, I think, something completely different than other movies in the genre,” he said.
We have high expectations of Suicide Squad based on the brilliance of the trailers so far, but we’re anticipating a divisive reaction to Leto’s Joker.
Suicide Squad is released August 5.
